Description:
The Dining Room is a two act play that tells its story through a series of short interweaving scenes. It is set in the dining room of a typical well-todo household. The play is performed by an ensemble cast comprised of 3 male and 3 female actors, all of which change roles, personality, and ages. The narrative is nonlinear and the experience of the play is created through these short scenes which all take take place in this dining room; each vignette presents its own sentiment about the setting, building on the previous scene. The space is looked at objectively, subjectively, with sentiment, and with disdain. The stories include a stern aunt set in her conservative ways, a pair of giggling girls stealing liquor from parents, a boy returning home from boarding school to discover his mother’s infidelity, etc. The Dining Room is a touching, funny, and compassionate theatrical experience.
